Battleship Rock Trail

We’re off to get to the viewpoint we could see from the bridge yesterday.

There were a sign that said Devil’s Gulch, but we didn’t think it was going to be like these uneven slippery rocks.
But we made it up among the clouds to the viewpoint.

Here you can see the bridge in the background. It was raining a lot at this point and it didn’t stop until we got down.

The skylift was closed, but the girls were very clear about never taking that anyway.

We did have a very short window with nicer weather on our way to breakfast, but it was already over, but the time we were ready to go the trail.

Red River Gorge, Kentucky

Arrived at Red River Gorge early afternoon and since it wasn’t raining, as we had feared, we went straight for the trail.

Checking out the bear rules before going on the trail.

We made up to the natural limestone bridge, 1.6 km and it took 45 minutes, we had to take some breaks along the way, because it’s quit steap.

Then we went under the bridge to the narrow path up to the top of the bridge.

Hopefully we’re going to the viewpoint that you can see behind the girls, tomorrow morning.

We have a narrow window of clear weather from 8-9.30 and otherwise it looks like a lot of rain.

We got lucky and only had clouds going up today and then light rain on the way down.

View from the lodge that we’re staying at for 2 nights.

Total solar eclipse 8th April 2024

At the total eclipse the moon was completely covering the sun, but you could only see that with the special glasses on. The light was weird, like almost grey, as if you were using a filter. The temperature also dropped and it went from warm and sunny, 23 gr to maybe 15 gr and chilly. It lasted for 4 minutes.
